Motorhome tuning by re mapping / chipping it is probably the best method of increasing the power & torque and still gains an improvement in MPG.
Gains of between 5 - 15 % in MPG and 25 - 30% increases in power are not uncommon when remapping /chipping a motorhome. The gains in MPG are achievable by being able to drive the Motorhome in a more efficient manor i.e. by being able to move up a gear sooner and hold that gear for a greater time. That is not to say that if you were to change the way you drive the Motorhome you couldn't get the MPG to drop, but you would have to be a lot harder on the Motorhome. Accelerating harder and driving / cruising faster all the time you may only see the same MPG as before but just get to your destination faster , the choice is yours .
We can remap / chip nearly all Motorhomes that have an ECU and most of these can be modified using the vehicle diagnostic port. This means that there is no physical sign that the vehicle has been altered and the dealer can not detect it when the vehicle is serviced etc.

Motorhomes require a slightly different map to that of a van based on the same vehicle. A Motorhome tends to run a most of the time with a heavy load and they tend to be driven at a lower more leisurely speed than a commercial van. This is no problem but it is something that the file developer needs to take into consideration when writing the file. Unless the file writer has experience of driving Motorhomes this subtle difference can be over looked. A good example of this is the large gap in the gear ratios between 4th & 5th gear in some Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD Motorhomes, which means that it is hard to hold 5th gear at 60 mph on anything but a flat road. These results into having to drop into 4th gear and use more revs, which results in an increase fuel use.
